History of Annum bikes
Our beginnings go back three generations,
when in 1932 in our present day carpenter
shop in the town of Cerkno in Slovenia, we
began working with wood and making
builders’ carpentry.
The second generation combined its
passion for wood and cycling that
continues to this very day.
The origins of this particular bicycle goes
back to 2012 when knowledge about wood
and engineering joined together, along
with experiences regarding user comfort.
The project leader is the owner of the
carpenter shop and occasional profes-
sional triathlete, now a leisure cyclist.
By knowing how to work with wood,
recognising its benefits and understand-
ing that cycling is a pleasure, we came to
realise that we want to develop a fully
functional wooden frame.
The Annum Bicycle is unique. There cannot be two that are the same in
existence. Annual rings in trees are like fingerprints. The frame is custom and
handmade. The bicycle holds a piece of the soul of the tree that was worked on
with loving hands and personal energy in a small carpenter shop situated in
Central Europe. We come from a long tradition of woodworkers, loggers and
carpenters. Forests cover almost 60 % of Slovenia and because of that the wood
industry is booming.
